Overview
In this retelling of the Biblical story of Joseph and his coat of many colors, lyricist Tim Rice and composer Andrew Lloyd Webber have created a musical filled with energy, color, excitement, and song. Joseph, one of twelve sons, is granted a beautiful coat to demonstrate his father's love and favor. It quickly becomes an object of jealousy, though, among his other brothers, who plot against Joseph and sell him into slavery. The musical follows Joseph as he deals with his new situation, keeps his dreams alive, and works to make his way back home. The Penn Yan production brought some unique twists to the stage, and audiences discovered the value of family, hard work, and following your dreams. Set to an engaging mix of musical styles, from country-western and calypso to bubble-gum pop and rock ’n roll, this Old Testament tale is made both timely and timeless.
