overview
When out-of-work traveler C.C. Showers (Senior Nick Kinsey) arrives in the small town of Zion, Indiana he has no idea what to expect. One thing he doesn’t expect to find is Buddy Layman (Freshman Owen McFarland), a boy whose deep-seated aversion to water gives him an uncanny ability to find it. The two strike up a fast friendship as C.C. adjusts to the other Zion locals, including Buddy’s father Ferris (Senior Nate Gulick) and sister Jennie Mae (Junior Marina Coriale); local farmer, Basil Bennett (PYA English Teacher Brian Cobb); and his wife, Luella (Senior Alanna Cropley); their goofy and slightly lazy farmhands, Melvin and Dewey (Sophomore Zach Blauvelt and Freshman Paul Gaston); the pious dry-goods store owner, Norma Henshaw (Senior Emily Coon); and her flirtatious niece Darlene (Senior Megan Guererri); and Goldie, the owner of the Dine-Away Café (Sarah Wilder). This “slice of life” play will provide audiences a brief glimpse into life during the Great Depression, as well as a close examination into the meaning of faith, friendship, and trust.
