overview
Based on the novel by Daniel Wallace and the screenplay by John August, this contemporary Broadway musical focuses on the strained relationship between Will Bloom (Sophomore Noah Detar) and his father Edward (Junior Zachary Blauvelt). Logical, fact-driven Will has always struggled to reconcile the world he sees with the larger-than-life version his father portrays in in the stories he tells. When each man receives life-altering news, however, Will decides that it is time to figure out what kind of man his father really is. Guided by his mother Sandra (Senior Corrinn Cincotta) and wife Josephine (Senior Marina Coriale), Will works his way through each of the outrageous stories his father has told him when he was a child (PYE first grader Porter Reynolds), looking for the truth behind the tales. Peppered with unforgettable characters like his hometown nemeses Don and Zacky Price (Junior Dan Falter and Freshman Jacob Eskildsen), his high school love Jenny Hill (Senior Emily Fingar), his giant best friend Karl (Sophomore Paul Gaston), eccentric circus ringmaster Amos Calloway (Junior Juan Espana), and a mysterious witch (Freshman Genna Elliot) who apparently told him how he dies, Edward’s tales unfold on the stage before the audience’s eyes as Will seeks to answer one question: Who is Edward Bloom?
